Report: Mack Brown will step down as Texas Longhorns coach

Wow. This thread is a testament to the fact that real reporters are dead and bloggers with websites are ruling the world.

Clearly, anyone with any sort of opportunity at a real job with a decent income, wouldn't be blogging on a college football website about what may happen to a guy and his job, who at one time reached the pinnacle of his profession while being considered a decent guy, yet possibly being fired.

It must suck to have to realize that there's no opportunity cost for me to stop working and become a jock sniffing blogger, perpetuating rumors about someone losing their job, whether it's on longhorn.com or any other site.

Agree, which makes the teaching of critical thinking skills at the high school and college levels all the more important. With the expansion of the avenues in which facts (and conjecture) are reported, people are going to need to have better interpretive skills.

Sadly, the same people who push theses rumors complain when a guy like, Bohl doesn't first tell his players that he's leaving.

Agree. For all we know, it could be one of the students bringing the food up to the meeting where Bohl is meeting with the athletic director who tweeted the news.

If that's the case, we are in big trouble. Conservative states like Texas are changing or want to change their curriculum to eliminate or limit critical thinking and analysis.

Preach brother preach. You can fill kids heads with tons of objective knowledge to score well on tests, but if you don't teach some measure of critical thinking along with it, you get a nation of robots who can't pour p*ss out of a shoe if the directions were written on the sole.

Craig Bohl was offered the job, but he didn't want to take a step backwards after coaching at NDSU.

So it's a done deal! Now the coaching carousel will start spinning!
