And losses:

Updated:

#1
2018 At Illinois 55-31. This game was a disaster. It came shortly after an important win at home. Illinois ran at will against a defense that appeared confused and undermanned. The only positive is that it was Robb Smith's last game as defensive coordinator, and the Gophers would only lose one more game that season against Big Ten West Champion, Northwestern.

#2
2017 At Northwestern 0-39 - Seemed as if the team massively underperformed despite the issues the team was having at the time. It looked like a total custer.

#3
2018 At Nebraska. 53-28
Defense played probably it's worst game under Fleck. Only bright spot was a brief period in the 3rd quarter where our offense scored a couple times.

#4
2017 Home vs Maryland 31-24 - Felt like many had believed this was going to be a win coming in and the game never felt as close as the score indicated.

#5
2018 At Maryland 13-42 - Didn't necessarily expect a win, but the blowout and inability to play better defense was disappointing. The loss of Nick C might have played a roll, otherwise this would be #2.

#6
2017 At Michigan 10-33 - We seemed to not have an answer for Michigan the whole game. Looked vastly inferior against a Michigan team that wasn't ranked. Losing at Michigan is not something new, but I was expecting a competitive game. I think we only ran 3 different plays on offense in that game. Just reused the same ones over and over again.

#7
2017 At Purdue 2017 17-31
Battle of two first year coaches. This one was disappointing in that we were better than them in 2016 and Brohm did a better job in year one getting to a bowl. Would have been higher if it was a home game.

#8
2017 #5 Wisconsin 0-31 - Went in as if it was a loss and had to go through the motions. It was a bad loss, but it almost didn't even count. Getting upset at this one was similar to getting angry when it rains in October.

#9 #22 Northwestern 24-14
Gophers came off big home win vs Purdue. Hope was that this would be a win to make the team Bowl Eligible in PJ's second year. Offense was dismal and turnover prone. Defense played solid second game but gave up a key big play which broke the back of the chances to win.

#10
2018 Iowa 31-48 - Expected better. Only good thing was they stayed in it after a bad start.

#11
2017 At Iowa - 10-17 - Decent performance on the road against a decent Iowa team

#12
2017 Home vs #21 Michigan State 27-30 - Team was getting blown out, but had an entertaining second half getting back into it.

#13
2018 At #3 Ohio State 14-30 - Unexpected close game. Stings that they didn't take advantage of the opportunity due to a couple key plays. Out-performed expectations.

2019 At #20 Iowa. Gophers got off to a slow start defensively, and offense had issues getting TD's on their opportunities. Gophers made a 2nd half comeback, but not enough to win. First loss of the year, but CFP doesn't view it too harshly being it was at Iowa where Iowa is tough.

As we only have one loss and only a troll would worry about a new coach's first two seasons, I will pick the Iowa loss as our best and worst loss.

For those of us still in our first marriage, would best ex-GF you broke up with be applicable?

Best loss was last Saturday - close loss to ranked team, dropped us just two places in the playoff rankings. Worst losses: the Illinois and Maryland blowouts last year.
