RandBall: An NIL 'salary cap' (and floor) for big-time college sports? What do you think?

Give me all the revenue sharing, rules, salary caps and floors. Ladle that bureaucracy and structure on me. Let me frolic in a fountain of professionalism.

Now that the $eal has been broken the last chance to save Gopher football at the semi-top levels is regulation. Lots of it.

Assuming there’s no going back, the sooner we get college football to a highly structured professional de facto minor league, the sooner the Gophers might wind up in a lot better spot than pre-NIL era

Pro sports has contracts which is what makes it all work. There are rules against tampering and the whole financial system is very controlled.

College football and basketball are dealing with young, unrestricted free agents, being offered pay for play money with little to no restrictions or monitoring.

Not hard to see how this mess came about.
It's going to have to get worse, before it gets better.
