Penn State moving student section?

I read the article differently.

They are moving 20,000 students from some pretty good seat locations on the sidelines up to the 25-30 yard line and moving them to the upper deck of the end zone.

Presumably, the ticket price (or PSL) to those sideline seats was not maximized with students sitting there at reduced cost. It certainly will be beginning in 2011.

And if you complain about it, Penn State has "science" to suggest that your school spirit isn't quite what it should be.

We'll see. It's always possible that students may be a bit disgruntled by being moved from some pretty good seats to seats that are less good, and may cheer less loudly. The proposal presumes that students will cheer more loudly than non students, and that the students will cheer just as loudly no matter where they put them in the stadium. Could be, or it might not be. But perhaps this is a smokescreen, and the real reason is that they can get more money for these seats, so they are putting the students in the less desirable seats?

First of all that was a cool study. 110 dB's wow that really loud, that is roughly how loud the Metrodome ever got. It's passed the point of pain.

Second, don't think for a second that this has nothing to do with money. At the end of the day it's all about the bottom line and this is going to help it.

Now if they can get someone to a basketball game they would have something.
