Per Wilson:

Nebraska is readying for Minnesota, its opponent in nine days, in “small doses,” according to offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. Game prep will pick up as the date draws nearer. In the meantime, NU is wading through a middle ground of getting ready for its first regular-season action since November while taking advantage of its final opportunity to focus on itself.

“Especially this week, this has been a great opportunity for us to go — it’s hot outside — to really put in the work,” offensive lineman Ethan Piper said. “Usually when we start school or get done with camp, game week is that first week, and we have a whole week before we go and play Minnesota, so I think it has an opportunity just for another three days to go grind and get that much better.”

The Golden Gophers don’t play a particularly complex defense. It’s a unit that relies more on technique and raw physicality than deception or trickery. While it can still cause problems for the Huskers — Minnesota opponents averaged fewer than 14 points per game in 2022 — it isn’t likely to throw out anything unexpected.

Go Gophers!!

In some ways, this is a perfect first game for Minnesota. It's an opportunity to see where we stand against a B1G West rival, and right out of the starting gate.
