Nebraska finished the B1G season with a 1-8 record and a cumulative point differential in those 9 games of zero—scored as many points as they gave up. That record with with a zero point differential is very improbable, but it happened. After a couple of years of disliking Frost (arrogant), I am actually beginning to feel sorry for him. Every week Nebraska finds a new way to lose. Now they can sit back until the 2022 season.

Part of Nebraska’s problem with Martinez at QB is that he was expected to run the ball 15 times as well as pass a lot. A QB who acts as a heavily-used RB takes a lot of hits. Has to affect performance as the game (and season) wears on.

Things got even stranger with Logan Smothers in at QB for Martinez. Smothers ran the ball 24 times; the top number of carries by a Nebraska RB was 13. (Tyler Goodson, Iowa’s star RB, had 23 carries.) There is a lot of physical talent on Nebraska, but as long as Nebraska requires its QB to be the most heavily used running back (in virtually every game), they will have problems with the great defenses in the B1G, especially late in the game when the Nebraska QB has taken 20+ tackles as a RB.

Bob Devaney once said "Nebraska Football is special because we believe in equality and generosity. A Nebraska Man strives for equality with our opponents, and generosity with wins, giving away victory in order to achieve a cordial good humour"
