Vanderbilt quietly posted a job opening for an assistant men's basketball coach under Jerry Stackhouse weeks ago, although it remains unclear which current assistant will move into a new support staff role. But a candidate to fill the assistant spot has emerged, as Ryan James of 247Sports affiliate GopherIllustrated is reporting that Minnesota associate head coach Ed Conroy is "likely" heading to Vanderbilt per multiple sources.

Conroy, who served as an assistant for the Golden Gophers since 2016 under recently fired Richard Pitino, has exclusively coached in college basketball and brings a long history in the South. He was head coach at Tulane from 2010 to 2016 and at the Citadel, his alma mater, from 2006 to 2010. Previous assistant coaching stints include Tennessee, NC State, Furman, VMI, Tulsa and Coastal Carolina.

Go Gophers!!

Conroy and Andy Fox have a history together. Fox worked under Conroy at several stops. Fox is someone who U of M should have went after. He is good with recruiting. He just recruited Liam to come to Vandy now.
