In 2008 NW won 9 games and went 5-3 in the big10. I think most of us would love to have a season like this again. Not saying this is the best we can do and we should settle for this, but it would be a very good year. So I checked out the recruiting classes that contributed. Zero 4 stars on the roster. 36 three stars were recruited in the contributing classes, for an average of 7 per year. The best class they had on paper was nearly the same as our current class on paper, same number of players and same number of 3 stars. I do believe in stars, but I also find it shocking when people look at this class and conclude that it's not good enough to contend in the big10. Far worse classes (on paper) have contributed to good teams many times in the past.
