For the first time since 1938, the final rounds of college basketball's National Invitation Tournament are moving permanently from New York City's Madison Square Garden. The NCAA announced Friday that the 2023 semifinals and championship for the tournament will be held in Las Vegas, followed by a stop in Indianapolis for the 2024 event.

Las Vegas and Indianapolis were determined as the next two host sites following a bidding process in the spring. Orleans Arena will be the host venue in Las Vegas, while Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis will host in 2024.

Uggghhhhh..... Of all the places in LV, to go to The Orleans? Would be much better off at either T-Mobile or even the Thomas & Mack. The Orleans is kind of a dump at this point.

I don't think drawing a crowd of 3,000 - 5,000 at T-Mobile or Thomas & Mack would be any better.

T-Mobile with the Knights first week of April and/or concerts during Spring Break Time, I can't see that arena's management wanting to commit to blocking 3 dates for the NIT. It's a relic, that fills ESPN airwaves for a couple of days leading up to the Final 4. Also allows for action at the books, no matter where the play it.

While it still won't draw a lot, I think moving it around could help some. Get it in cities that have never hosted it before. Some kind of rotation between 5-6 cities.

If it’s a made for TV event only, they could also help the cause in different cities by offering cheap tickets. The in person prices for post season are inaccessible to many people. A $20 ticket might fill arenas and create an exciting environment.
