Before Dr. Eric Kaler, the University of Minnesota president, heads to Orlando for the Citrus Bowl, he sat down for a one-on-one chat with KSTP sports reporter Darren 'Doogie' Wolfson.

Among topics discussed were the excitement surrounding the game vs. Missouri on New Year's Day, head coach Jerry Kill's brilliance, and in particular, his 2014 success, and the future of the football program -- what still needs to be done from a infrastructure and facilities standpoint, etc.

Kaler, who arrives on Monday, will be meeting with potential donors while in Orlando.

Good luck with the potential donors. As to coach he is welcome at my house anytime!

Another benefit of the New Years Bowl Game in Florida. Alumni, and donors. Its all good.

Was back in MN for the holidays and was pleasantly surprised at how much the news and newspaper was reporting on the Gophers, and how very little was about the Vikings. I know the Vikings game today meant very little but was still surprised. Great to see!
