Thursday's game:

Led by Justin Cobbs' 23 points, host Bishop Montgomery (4-1) took a big lead, lost it, then got it back late in the game in an 84-74 nonleague victory over North Torrance.......

Bishop Montgomery grabbed a big lead early and didn't look back for most of the first half, building a 41-26 lead thanks in part to Cobbs, who had 13 points in the first half........

Cobbs credited North but cited a lack of focus that led to too many turnovers as a reason for Bishop Montgomery squandering its double-digit lead in the first half.

"Coach told us not to take them lightly and I think we let up when we got that lead," Cobbs said. "When we got the lead back later, we were more patient and knew what we had to do to hold onto it."

Saturday's game, an 83-48 win:

Justin Cobbs scored a game-high 24 points for the Knights. Mike Panaggio added 13 points, three assists and four steals. Chris Miller scored 12 points, and Tyler Nelson came off the bench to contribute five rebounds and three assists".

In all, 12 Knights got in on the scoring after Cobbs accounted for nine of the team's first 12 points.

"I liked that we had a lot of guys contribute tonight," Bishop Montgomery coach Doug Mitchell said. "Justin's always going to get his, but tonight it was everyone up and down the lineup. I thought Bibbins played really well."
