JAXON HOWARD A GOPHER!!!

This is the second instance under Fleck's tenure of a #1 in-state recruit initially choosing a different school after having MN in their final 3, only to transfer home to the Gophers at a later point (Quinn Carroll being the first, though he transferred home as a graduate transfer after 3 years at ND instead).

Perhaps that trend will influence future top in-state recruits to just stay home!

It also shows the importance of handling an initial "no" with class. Some coaches would burn bridges, but gotta keep it classy as transfers are a phone call away.

Go Gophers!!

I think most coaches understand that concept. Fans are the ones who get all bent out of shape when a local kid picks a different school out of high school.

But yeah, in this current day and age a coach would be foolish to burn bridges with any recruit. Guys are moving around so much there is a good chance you might have a second or even third crack at players who you didn't get the first time.

Another high profile LSU player entered the portal. Underclassman DB, maybe Howard talks him into visiting?
Yeah....Jaxon's Dad posting a couple of LSU's DB's that have entered the portal. Hope somebody is calling them ASAP....

Congratulations young man! You chose wisely.

"The grass is always greener
In the other fellow’s yard.
The little row
We have to hoe,
Oh boy that’s hard.
But if we all could wear
Green glasses now,
It wouldn’t be so hard
To see how green the grass is
In our own back yard."

By Raymond B. Egan and Richard A. Whiting (published in 1924)

We fans are a bunch of homers in MN! - but it sure must be fun having the entire state behind you.

Such great news! I honestly thought there was no chance he would come up to Minnesota. Pleasantly surprised to be wrong here
