Congrats to JJ! Smart move. Great for all Gopher fans, too!
He's figured out that just the opportunity and chance to run out through the tunnel at the likes of: The Shoe, The Big House, The Camp, Happy Valley, Memorial Stadium (two of them), Kinnick, and yes, TCF (!), and compete at the highest level trumps trips to those other "cathedrals of college football" in places like Terra Haute, Carbondale, and Macomb.
He realizes that playing - and competing - against the highest level 11 (or 12) weeks out of 12 - trumps doing so once every fall.
He's smart enough to figure out that given the above, and finishing 8-4, or even 6-6, is more respectable than steam-rollering the likes of Stephen F. Austin, Wofford, and Coastal Carolina and the rest of the vaunted MVC slate. Remember, 10,000 times more has been written about even the failed attempts to summit Everest - than has been written about successful scalings of Mt. Shasta.
Today, in Fargo they are trumpeting and celebrating a newly announced home-and home meeting with . . . North Dakota. IN stark contrast, JJ can go out an anticipate the home-and-home series to come with the likes of TCU and Oregon State - and the others that are surely coming.
National TV for at least 11 games a year.
Best of all for JJ - a BIG education/degree, something that people will know and respect all over the United States - and for the rest of his life.
Welcome aboard !!!
