Hole Pole: What grade would you give the Gophers defense in the win over Purdue?

If you give up 500 yards you've normally earned an F. But with this motley crew running around, even mustering the stops they did was almost miraculous. I went with a "C" for effort.

Went with a B due to improvement-related grade inflation.

Grading on the curve is necessary from time to time...at least for this edition of the Golden Gophers...in the covid alternative timeline.

c, got the w, but didn't look good defensively doing it.

Stats aren't pretty ... BUT

• I feel like I'm seeing more 1:1 tackles.
• Way more guys in position to make a play and not wiffing.
• Some guys actually making plays and getting help from the second guy on the scene and such.
• Way less 'nobody home / missed assignment' type plays.

Hopefully the stats follow eventually as it seems like they're playing a bit better.
