Per U of MN press release:
Hailing from Fond du Lac, Wis., Loewe was a high school standout at both Fond du Lac high school (senior year) and Ripon high school (freshman, sophomore and junior years) and will join the Gopher program in June after spending four years at William & Mary.

At William & Mary, Loewe was named a NABC Second Team All-District and landed a spot on the Second Team All-CAA team. During his tenure, Loewe was also a two-time CAA All-Defensive Team selection.

"Luke is another tough and gritty guy who loves to compete," said Minnesota head coach Ben Johnson. "He's exactly the kind of player we want wearing the Maroon and Gold. He loves to play defense and can shoot the ball too. Luke has played more than 100 games of college basketball and has improved every year. He was with Coach Jason Kemp at William & Mary, and we can't wait to see what he can do as a Gopher."

Loewe played in 107 games for William & Mary and starting 80 of them. Last year, he ranked sixth in the CAA averaging 16.2 points per game. Loewe also ranked third among the CAA in minutes played (35.9), fourth in free throw percentage (85.7), sixth in steals (1.4) and eighth in assists (3.2). He also led the CAA in assist-to-turnover ratio, which ranked 57th nationally. Among his conference statistics, Loewe tallied 15 or more points in 10 of his final 12 games.

As a junior, he led the CAA in 3-point shooting (43-of-98 for 43.9 percent) and ranked fourth in the league in field goal percentage (124-228 for 54.4 percent). As a sophomore, Loewe averaged 24.1 minutes played and averaged 3.9 points per game. He received the team's Mark Batzel Award, which is given to the player who displays leadership, determination, mental toughness and heart, while having the ability to instill those qualities in his teammates.

Named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 1 All-State team in 2017, Loewe was rated Wisconsin's No. 1 point guard and No. 4 overall player in the 2017 class. Despite missing the start of his high school senior season, Loewe went on to average 20.1 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.8 assists per game. He was named an all-state selection in 2016 and was a two-time All-Area and All-Metro Player of the Year. Loewe played three seasons with Ripon before transferring to Fond du Lac for his final year of high school.

At this stage of the game Johnson is merely trying to plug holes for his team so that they can have a scrimmage. Not a reflection on Johnson. We need to give him time to put together his team.

Shot 44% from 3 as a Jr...Yippie! 30% as a Sr...Ugh!
