Gophers to Hold Two Open Practices for Fans

The University of Minnesota football team will hold two open training camps practices for the public to come and watch the Gophers prepare for the upcoming 2023 season. Minnesota's two open practices will be on Saturday, August 5 (7 p.m. practice at Huntington Bank Stadium) and on Tuesday, August 15 (3:30 p.m. practice at Athletes Village). These two practices are free for the public to attend.

The August 5 practice, which is sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, will start at 7 p.m. and will be held at Huntington Bank Stadium. This will also serve as the team's annual Family Day Practice and will feature a fan fest on the West Plaza.

The team will once again host its annual diaper drive on Saturday. Gopher fans have donated more than 115,000 diapers in the last six years and fans are encouraged to bring diapers to the practice and drop them off outside the stadium near Tribal Nations Plaza (outside of West Plaza). These diapers will then be donated to the Diaper Bank of Minnesota where they will then be distributed to families in need.

Fans are also encouraged to bring a decorated oar to Saturday's practice. These customized oars will be added to the inside of Huntington Bank Stadium where they adorn the hallway that the Gophers travel from their locker room to the field on game days. These inspirational oars are the final images the Gophers see before taking the field and serve as a way to connect the community and state with Gopher football.

The August 15 practice will start at 3:30 p.m. and will be held at the team's practice facility at Athletes Village.

The Gophers open the season on Thursday, August 31 when they host Nebraska. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kick and will air on FOX and the Gopher Radio Network.
