Members of the Golden Gopher men’s basketball team had a fun night last night at the “Create A Memory” event at Target Field. For more than 30 years the annual event has allowed children from Minneapolis and St. Paul to take part in fun events, first at the Metrodome, and now at Target Field. Hundreds of kids took part in the event, which included baseball and softball stations, a tour of Target Field, autographs from participating celebrities like the Gopher men’s basketball team, and much more. Gopher forward Dawson Garcia says it is important for he and his teammates to be role models and try to impact young people. He says he remembers when he was young how important it was to hear from encouraging words from others. As for basketball, Garcia says the summer workouts are going well for the team and says they have “a chip on our shoulder.” He says they can’t wait for the season to get here.

Go Gophers!!
