The Wizards are one of the two NBA teams (with the Lakers) that Sid helped found.
Sid was the driving force behind establishing and running the Minneapolis Lakers, but after Bob Short bought them in the late 50s, Sid left that post and was soon invited to be in charge of player development for a new Chicago team that soon moved to Baltimore and eventually Washington. Sid's the guy who originally signed the likes of Walt Bellamy & Gus Johnson for them.
