The Gophers received a commitment from Drake transfer Liam Robbins, per Evan Daniels. The 7-foot big man averaged 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds for the Bulldogs last season. Robbins announced he was transferring on Saturday and chose Minnesota less than one day later.

Head coach Richard Pitino has been exploring the transfer portal to bolster his frontcourt. With center Daniel Oturu departing for the NBA, Robbins is set to play a big role in 2020 if he's granted immediate eligibility. Last season, he shot 49.9 percent and became a key player for Drake. On the defensive end, he finished fifth in the nation with 2.9 blocks per game.

Robbins is the nephew of Minnesota associate head coach Ed Conroy. The Gophers' new transfer will also team up with his cousin, Hunt Conroy, who is on the team's roster.

He may need to sit out one season due to transfer rules, but the NCAA is set to review its policy to potentially allow immediate transfers.

terrific. So this is who we are? terrific.

What are you not grasping about development and growth (or conditioning)? Do you seriously not understand how much kids change from the age of 17 to 19 or 18 to 20?? You think this is the first example of someone catching up with their body or developing their game in college sports? Frank Kaminsky could barely tie his own shoes as a freshman at Wiscy and he ended up being one of the top players in college basketball and a first-round pick.

You can't be this dense. You have to be just trying to be a contrary prick

I read somewhere that the Robbins kid weighed something like 300 pounds coming out of HS, which is apparently why he was lightly recruited. OK - found an article in the Des Moines Register. He didn't play at all until his SR year in HS, and then only played limited minutes.

He had no offers out of HS, so he went to Sunrise Christian Academy, changed his eating and workout habits, and dropped almost 70 pounds. (sounds like Mo Walker, doesn't it)

that would help to explain the big jump in his numbers from his FR to SO year.

Now, we just have to see if the Gophers get lucky on an eligibility waiver............................I'll wait for the laughing to stop........................hey, it might happen. Better chance on NCAA approving the rule change for a 1-time transfer with no penalty.

spaulding no, is a complete moron ...not even aware of the fact that nobody recruited him out of highschool much less a power 5 program/gophs

Some of the best advice i have seen on the board. Literally block those that have little to contribute to basketball discussion and mostly spew lies or personal attacks.
I finally listened to your recommendation. It is like switching from old AM radio to FM, way less static...
