Dennis Erickson Gets Vote of Confidence...

I don't know if it would really matter that much. ASU is going to draw from, likely, a stronger pool of candidates. There are 20-30 (and up to 40 or more occasionally) D-1 players in Arizona every year, the vast majority of whom are from the same Phoenix area Arizona State is located in. It's got great weather and facilities. It's a more attractive option and it doesn't hurt that they're loaded on lower class talent at the moment. The Sun Devils should have beat Wisconsin, Stanford and USC, and they gave Oregon all they can handle. If they made a move with 21 of 22 starters returning for next season, they'd be able to pick a coach that just wouldn't be considering Minnesota.

The last time they needed a coach, they went out and got a guy who'd coached 2 NFL teams and won 2 National Championships. The time before that, they went out and got the guy that brought Boise into D-1A. The time before that, they poached the coach from a conference rival fresh off a 10-2 season. It's just a significantly better job at the moment.

I heard that The Fridge got an extension at Maryland as well, so cross them off the list.
