How do you lose a football game when you win the turnover game and outgain the opponent by 165 yards? Repeated red zone problems. When Michigan got close, they cashed in and that's on our defense. We seemed to live in their end but you know what happened time and again, though Santoso was brilliant. In a way we lost the game early when Michigan went 2-2 in the red zone while we kicked field goals. You see those 4-point swings turn so many games. A slightly better showing in this area and we aren't feeling like this. Hate to say it, but they were better when they had to be.

+1. Huge part was settling for those field goals. My main complaint with the at calling is they were so conservative once we got in fg range- except the last drive when they decided to not kick

The Mortell shank was essentially like a turnover/fumble/int returned to our side of the field. The turnover differential is a little misleading.

Agree on the conservative calls on the last series before the half. Felt like they could have taken another shot.

This staff, particularly pre-Kill retirement is relatively conservative at times, maybe that will change as Claeyes gets more comfortable with the offensive side. That said, we saw a lot of aggressive downfield calls to the tune of 461 yards and 10 yards per attempt. Half the fans seem to want Air Raid and a vocal minority want to be the 70s Huskers.

+3 turnovers where you become invincible. We couldn't get it done in the red zone. Sad as it is to say, Michigan has a squad full of elite athletes and they tightened up at the right time.
