The consensus is in: John Calipari is tainted. Well, that’s what we’re seeing from most, although Mike DeCourcy at Sporting News offers a different take, as do the entertaining folks at catspause.
Dana O’Neil at ESPN:

Luke Winn at Sports Illustrated:

Mark Story from the Lexington Herald Leader:

Geoff Calkins from the Memphis Commercial Appeal:

DeCourcy’s take:

And the never dull folks at catspause:

Onto more drama. . .the Henry brothers have finally arrived in Lawrence, after much hand-wringing this summer (most of it seemingly caused by their father Carl).

Moral of this story? If some college age kid named Joe Davis shows up on your doorstep, offering to squire your teenage prodigy son around next summer, don’t let him past the screen door:

And finally, the inanity which is the NCAA has spread its wings to place cream cheese in the same realm as Dave Bliss:

See you on Monday~

Thanks for all the links. Appreciate the daily updates.

Since I haven't heard anything to the contrary, I'm assuming John Wall has qualified to play for Calipari at Kentucky this year. Is that correct?

I read somewhere that he's enrolled and taking summer school classes, so I'm going to go ahead and assume he's qualified.

You forgot one of the most sensible pieces in all this

To me, this guy is playing the devil’s advocate thing which is annoying as hell. The Truth, it is very nice of you to share this article that could have been written possibly by a teenager in Kentucky. However, we are not buying it. Calamari should be banned from coaching for good. He is a disgrace to college basketball. I like what Rick said after Tubby left UK (I am not sure if this is the exact quote), “ UK basketball will go back 20 years”. We are seeing the truth to that statement. Rick might be a womanizer but he damn knows what he is talking about.

Larry Vaught is one of the most well respected journalists in the country. He's won countless national awards, serves on the board for the Associated Press Sports Editors association and is one of the most well respected figures in sports journalism in the country. Comparing him to a "teenager" is an insult.

Seriously The Truth, I am a scientist and may be able to write an article 10 times better than that. His argument is meaningless. As I have mentioned in the past, head coaches almost always come out of clean (I said almost). Did you read the article posted by the original poster on the Kentucky Paper? To me, that was journalism.

Mark Story is entitled to his opinion the same as Larry Vaught. The difference between you and I is that I don't dismiss either out of hand based upon my own preconceived biases.

Write [email protected] if you want - he's a friend and THE best journalist in Central KY.

He has the awards to prove the latter statement.

Yes, all of the UK recruits are qualified to play in 2009-10 season.

FOT, not to insult you or your jounalist friend, if he is the best journalist in central KY, I am very glad that I live in Minnesota now. I am sorry, that article was not written very well.

Winning literary awards in Kentucky means he probably would have barely graduated high school in MN, so you guys are really both right about this guy

Write him and tell HIM not me. Larry Vaught is a damn good journalist, one a VERY FEW who were fair to Tubby and honest about how he was treated by SOME in KY.

Bullshit. Larry is an intelligent guy, much smarter than Myron, Shooter, or Sid.
