Minnesota is a sneaky team to watch in the Big Ten West this year. The return of coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca should help the offense get back on track after averaging only 25.5 points a contest in 2021. Also, quarterback Tanner Morgan had his best season in ’19 under Ciarrocca, so his return is good news for a sluggish passing game. Running back Mohamed Ibrahim also returns from a torn Achilles to lead the backfield for the Golden Gophers. This game marks a homecoming for New Mexico State coach Jerry Kill, who worked as the coach in Minneapolis from 2011-15. The Aggies lost five turnovers in a 23-12 loss to Nevada in Week 0.

Jerry Kill revenge game? JERRY KILL REVENGE GAME! Sadly, that still lands them in last place this week. Minnesota lost one of their laydown games last year when they played Bowling Green but also New Mexico State was really bad last year and looked pretty poor in week 0. Minnesota wins this by a landslide... but can NMSU cover??? Will Jerry Kill shake PJ’s hand? That’s all the intrigue I could find.
