BIG TEN MEDAL OF HONOR 100TH ANNIVERSARY SPOTLIGHT – Minnesota’s Jack McCartan: McCartan, who earned the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 1958, was a two-time first-team All-America goaltender for Minnesota. The Saint Paul, Minn., native appeared in 67 games for the Gophers, recording a .908 save percentage and 2.95 goals-against average. Also a baseball standout, McCartan was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree as a third baseman, earning All-America status in 1958. Following his time at Minnesota, McCartan went on to star for the 1960 U.S. Olympic team, leading the squad to the gold medal.
