The Big Ten Conference office announced today that Michigan hockey student-athletes Michael Downing and Andrew Sinelli have each been suspended for one game, under the conference’s supplemental discipline process, as a result of separate incidents that occurred in a game against Minnesota on February 15.

The actions were taken by the conference after a review of separate incidents that occurred in the third period. At the 5:35 mark, Downing received a major penalty for contact to the head and a game misconduct. At the 14:37 mark, Sinelli received a minor penalty for cross-checking. Downing and Sinelli are ineligible to play in Michigan’s February 21 game against Penn State.

The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.
