From College Football News, and its Cavalcade of Whimsy:

With all of the focus on the race for the BCS championship, here are the ten under-the-radar cool things happening in college football that you should know about.

10. Minnesota is 6-4
It wasn’t all that long ago that Minnesota was a regular on the bowl circuit, and yes, there was a time in the first half of the last century when the program was among college football’s superpowers. The firing of Glen Mason and the follow up with the Tim Brewster experience led to two straight 3-9 seasons and little hope to improve things right away. Instead, in his second season, Jerry Kill has made the Gophers interesting with a 6-4 record and the chance to go bowling again. There’s a decent win over Syracuse and a nice victory over Purdue, but really, they got to six wins by beating the weak and the sad. No matter – it’s a step forward. The secondary has been excellent, Donnell Kirkwood and the running game have been solid, and things appear to be on the right track.
