Notes
(1) Using the combined records vs. NCAA qualifiers of the 34 at-large qualifiers, this season's at-large selections were slightly stronger than the at-large qualifiers from 2007-08. The 2008-09 at-large selections were a combined 217-201 (51.9%) vs. NCAA qualifiers heading into the NCAA Tournament, while the 2007-08 at-large qualifiers were a combined 203-200 (50.3%).

(2) Kudos to BYU. It appears the Cougars have adeptly figured out how to "finesse" their schedule to put themselves in a position to earn an at-large bid. The Cougars have won only 4 games vs. NCAA qualifiers in the past two seasons (2-5, in 2007-08, 2-3 in 2008-09), yet both years they have earned an at-large bid. That's called making the most out of scheduling very little.

(3) Shame on Wake Forest. Beat up on NCAA-caliber teams during the regular season but gagged & was manhandled in the first round vs. Cleveland State.

(4) The records/winning percentage of the four Final Four teams vs. eventual NCAA qualifiers, including their 4 NCAA Tournament games?
1. Michigan State (17-4, 81%)
2. UConn (12-3, 80%)
3. North Carolina (10-4, 71.4%)
4. Nova (10-6, 62.5%)

(5) The records/winning percentage of the four NIT semifinalists teams vs. NCAA qualifiers?
1. Penn State (6-9, 40%)
2. Baylor (6-10, 37.5%)
3. San Diego State (3-6, 33.3%)
4. Notre Dame (2-12, 14.3%) -- and this is the team ESPN continued to pimp for an at-large bid all season?

I realize that Purdue won the BTT (didn't they - it seems so long ago!), but if they hadn't still would have gained an at large bid. Can you say where they fit in?

Purdue

The Boilers were 9-7 (same as Illinois) vs. NCAA qualifiers during the regular season.

looking forward

looking forward to next season, do we have any idea what our non-conference schedule will look like yet?

Thanks Selection. I know you've been watching this for a while. It's good to see our team respectably placed in this list!
