The big concern for Minnesota is that it lost All-Big Ten center Daniel Oturu to the NBA. But Drake transfer Liam Robbins will help fill that void, and coach Richard Pitino seems to have solid talent elsewhere.

Double-figure scorers Marcus Carr and Gabe Kalscheur return on the perimeter, and Utah transfer wing Both Gach was a nice addition this offseason — he has received a waiver to play immediately. Western Michigan graduate transfer Brandon Johnson looks like a nice piece at power forward, as he's a 1,000-point scorer. So Minnesota figures to have an NCAA Tournament-caliber starting lineup, even if there might be some questions about the bench.

Another factor working in Minnesota's favor? Regression to the mean. The Gophers ranked No. 27 in KenPom last season but struggled in close games and thus finished toward the bottom of Division I in Pomeroy's "luck" rating. If those issues resolve, Minnesota could be quite comfortably in the tournament.

Go Gophers!!

I hate to over rely on regression to the mean on our luck factor...
