As Tubby's Tipoff nears I find myself ruminating about the upcoming season Substitution Conundrum with 14 players looking for playing time.

One solution:

Rather than a 5 man substitution pattern - why not substitute in tandem

Starting lineup:

Nolan
Westbrook
Johnson
Mbakwe
Sampson

Substitution tandems >>> when you want to substitute for

Nolan/Westbrook you substitute both with Cobbs/Joseph.

for Johnson/Mbakwe you substitute both with Carter/White

for Sampson sub Iverson

for 3 guard lineup sub Hoffarber/Bostick for any 2 of the 1-2-3 positions.

Occasional pressing lineup A. >> Nolan/Joseph/Johnson/Carter/(Williams?)

Dawson used as needed.

does he redshirt?

I have no idea - but I have read here that there is some talk of him redshirting - I have also read tho that Tubby rarely redshirts players.

I show him on the full court press lineup - with a ?.

There were times when Tubby's substitution patterns puzzled me last year, but I just kept telling myself 'the coach is Tubby Smith, he's a great coach knows far more then you, so don't worry about it." It generally worked.

I try telling myself the same thing when Ron Gardenhire lets Carlos Gomez bat with the bases loaded in the play-offs...it didn't work. Take from that what you will. (And no I'm not one of those "Fire Gardy" people).

I think it'll be much easier if some cream rises to the crop. I think our best players will be Mbakwe, White, Johnson, Carter, Nolen, Joseph, LW and RSIII and I think those guys should all get 20+ minutes a night with everyone else filling in at different times
