per the Holland Sentinel:

When Desmond Morgan took an assistant coaching job at Minnesota, it was a bit of a leap of faith.

The former Michigan linebacker from West Ottawa didn’t know anyone on the coaching staff, including head coach PJ Fleck, who had just taken the job after seeing success at Western Michigan.

That success is continuing at Minnesota, which just knocked off Penn State in one of the biggest wins in school history.

“It was exciting for sure. It was probably the biggest win in Minnesota history, at least recent history. The biggest win in the history of the new stadium against a very good Penn State football team,” Morgan said. “It was very satisfying knowing the work our guys put in was invested in sometime. It was extremely gratifying.”

Morgan is Minnesota’s special teams quality control coach. He assists the special teams coordinator with schematics, basically second-in-command of special teams.

He does a lot of planning during the week and helps make mid-game adjustments.

“Because of headset rules and the number of coaches who can talk to players during games, I am doing a lot of analyzing opponents game plans and relaying that to the special teams coordinator to make adjustments during the game,” he said. “It is exciting.”
