Media Predictions: Minnesota vs Iowa

Bonus, Athlon Sports provided an "outrageous prediction"
The Golden Gophers row the boat into Iowa City as underdogs. This is as much of a "prove it" game as Penn State was last weekend.Antoine Winfield Jr. is playing as well as any defender in the country. Look for the Minnesota defensive back to give Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley fits all day, while the Minnesota offense moves the ball up and down the field at Kinnick Stadium at will. The Gophers get a blowout win over another quality opponent and establish themselves as the class of the Big Ten West.

We made their outrageous predictions last week as well when the predicted we would win over Penn State. Double bonus, they are also predicting a Nebraska win over Wisconsin. Would be a heck of a day to go get Floyd and wrap up the Big Ten West at the same time.

Is definitely strange to be getting love from places like Athlon who have typically dismissed the Gophers. Gotta love it. Go Gophers!

On the one hand, this is a tough turnaround for the Gophers after last week’s emotional, historic home game against Penn State. It would not be surprising if their offense comes out flat against a tough Hawkeyes defense. All in all, though, I just think Minnesota is the better team. Tanner Morgan and Co. get to 10-0. Minnesota 24, Iowa 20

On the Bigger Ten podcast, both guys picked the Gophers to win, mostly due to our significant offensive advantage.

NJ.com is taking the Gophers
P.J. Fleck has to be thrilled with Las Vegas. What better way to keep your team grounded after its biggest win in ages than a curious point spread that makes them road underdogs to a 6-3 Hawkeyes team? But the Golden Gophers have to know they can lock down the Big Ten West title before the rivalry game with Wisconsin in two weeks if they get this one.

Athlon Sports full analysis takes Iowa, 27-23
A week after one of the biggest wins in program history, Minnesota is confident and continuing to grow as a team that expects to win. But they have to pass a few speed bumps on their way to Indianapolis for the Big Ten championship game, and a road trip to Kinnick Stadium is one of the toughest bumps that there is. Minnesota's dream season runs into a wall against a motivated Iowa team ready to play the role of spoiler, and the Hawkeyes' defense holds off the Gophers.

Off Tackle Empire (SB Nation) has 12 writers taking Minnesota and five picking Iowa.
Iowa doesn’t have the firepower on either side of the ball to get the job done, and you have no idea how weird it feels to be typing that out about a Minnesota team.

On College Gameday, Lee Corso just picked Iowa, going against the Gophers for a second straight week.
