After 8 successful defenses of our own territory without any opportunity to add to it, the Gophers finally played an opponent with territory on the CFB Empires Map. We now have PSU's original land, plus Iowa, Iowa State, Rutgers, Ohio U, Miami (OH), Buffalo, and UMass.
We have dominion over more of the US population than anybody, with our 35.2 million subjects narrowly edging UCLA (34.3) and LSU (33.9). We also have the most counties under control, and are fourth in territories and fifth in land area.
There will not be any opportunity to add to our empire through the end of the regular season, since our opponents are all stateless, and themselves have no hope of acquiring any land. Illinois' land, taken from Wisconsin and ripe for picking, can only stay with the Illini or end up with Iowa or Northwestern after we play them, or Nebraska. We can take Ohio State's empire in Indianapolis, either directly from them or through PSU - unless the Buckeyes beat the Nits but are upset by Michigan.
