Hawkeye Nation first out of the gate:

2. Minnesota – The Gophers’ victory on Saturday wasn’t a fluke. We knew it was loaded at the skill positions, but we learned Tanner Morgan can do more than manage the game and that the offensive line is light years ahead of where it started the season. Now they are faced with overcoming an Iowa program that’s beaten them four times in a row and in six of the last seven meetings.

Go Gophers!!

Detroit News chimes in:

2. Minnesota (9-0, 6-0) – The doubters can apparently all take a seat, at least for this week as the Golden Gophers proved many wrong by piling up 460 yards, including 339 yards passing from Tanner Morgan, to beat Penn State in a battle of unbeatens. The Gophers now head to Iowa next week in another stiff test, but maintain a two-game lead in the West. After Iowa the Gophers get Northwestern then Wisconsin as they inch closer to Indy. Last week: 5.

2. Minnesota (9-0, 6-0)

Last week: Beat Penn State 31-26

This week: at Iowa, 3 p.m., Fox

The Gophers dominated the first three quarters and proceeded to hold on — just barely — at the end. Great program win for coach P.J. Fleck, who has wrung everything out of three great receivers and otherwise modest talent.

Des Moines Register chimes in:

2. Minnesota (9-0)
Last week: 3. P.J. Fleck signed a contract extension last week, then gave Minnesota a huge return on its investment. The Golden Gophers defeated Penn State, earning their first home victory over a top-five opponent since 1977. They are 9-0 for the first time since 1904 and have an 11-game winning streak that started in November 2018. In summary, there is a lot of mojo in Minny.

Next up: at Iowa, 3 p.m. Saturday, Fox.

Bucky's 5th Quarter chimes in:

2. (3) Minnesota (9-0), W - 31-26 vs. No. 4 Penn St., Next Week: at No. 20 Iowa

In a program-changing win, the Golden Gophers shocked No. 4 Penn State behind a fantastic defensive effort and a big game from quarterback Tanner Morgan. The redshirt sophomore signal caller threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns in the Gophers’ first win against a top-five team since 1999. Minnesota picked off Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford three times, including one with 1:01 left in the game that sealed the victory for the Gophers.

Snark at the end. Shows he knows and has seen nothing. As I have acknowledged, our team has some average players. But it also has some excellent other players on both sides of the ball.

Blue Mountain Eagle chimes in:

2. MINNESOTA (9-0, 6-0)
Previous: 3. Last week: W 31-26 vs. Penn State.

What a win for P.J. Fleck and the Gophers. Quarterback Tanner Morgan flayed Penn State to the tune of 18-for-20 passing for 339 yards and three touchdowns, one to each of member of the Big 3: Tyler Johnson, Rashod Bateman and Chris Autman-Bell. Minnesota picked off Sean Clifford three times, held the ball for 35 minutes and won despite giving up 518 yards. Now with the West Division crown squarely in sight, UM travels to Iowa this weekend, then Northwestern before closing out with Wisconsin at home Nov. 30. Win those three (still a big task), and Minnesota — yes, Minnesota — can play for a spot in the College Football Playoffs.
