We are in the talk big time but really we need to be more concerned with beating Iowa next week. Its been 20 years since we have done that at Kinnick. Enough is enough. Iowa has a stout defense and is well coached. The weather could be a factor and they will want to ruin our day. Lets talk about how we can beat them and let ESPN worry about rankings.

Rankings are just Sunday fun’s at this point.

We, us fans, had never been here before so let us enjoy our rankings

Beating Iowa is for our team (our coaches and players) to focus on, you my friend is a fan!

The Gophers are in the driver's seat of the rankings. Will they get a car?

Yeah, the discussion on rankings is really fun but they will take care of themselves by season end. Kinnick has been a hell hole for the Gophs in recent years. Time for the team to focus and exorcise that demon.

consider this. assuming osu/lsu/clemson as the top three at the end of the season, if the gophers win the last three and are ranked 7 or 8 and then lose to osu in the btc game. do you really think the gophers get selected for the playoffs if there are other 1 loss teams out there with higher rankings? (bama, ou, oregon) if the gophers are ranked ahead of those one loss teams and lose to osu, do you think there would be a higher likelihood that they get selected over those other one loss teams?

not to mention slam dunk consideration for the rose bowl if a one loss gophers get shut out of the cfp.

rankings matter

What was the real goal at the beginning of the season? In the world of reality? Who would have said 9-3 would be good enough? No, the realist goal that would have made all of us happy with the season as a whole was to win the Big Ten West. I don't give a single hoot what a bunch of bandwagon jumping journalists or coaches think of us. I want to win Big Ten games enough to win the West. If more comes than that, fine and even good, very good. But, this has been an outstanding season if we win the West. Outstanding.

rankings matter

Yes, rankings matter, but not one tenth of what wins matter. Beat Iowa and we are within an inch of heaven, no matter where we go in the rankings.
