Very cool!!

Fleck stopped by Motzko's practice the other day for a short stint between the pipes. Very cool that he would do something like this, showing more and more unity between the UM sports.

Fleck's prospect summary;

"P.J. Fleck, Minnesota
Nov. 29, 1980 | 5-foot-10 | 191 pounds

Drafted: Free agent
Previous ranking: N/A

Athleticism: 50 — pro average
Hockey Sense: 20 — battles to find the puck

Fleck doesn’t quite check many of the boxes that you’re looking for in your prototypical goaltender. The 5-foot-10 measurement is generous by a couple inches and he still has some Bambi-esque traits to his edgework. The almost 39-year-old does possess some high-end athleticism with potential to translate to the ice. Great hands. Great mental focus. Very driven and meticulous in his preparation and mindset. Outstanding locker room guy and involved with the community.

“What he doesn’t make up in size, he has a lot of heart,” LaFontaine said. “I was shocked. Never seen anyone play the position like that since Hasek.”

It’s hard to pin a style on Fleck, but he displayed an aggressive glove and stick to the Gophers shooters that made him popular on social media as “Poke Check Fleck.” The flare for the dramatic was something that LaFontaine noticed in Fleck’s play and Fleck said that was something he’d like to see more of from the Gophers trio of goalies."

Pretty good read, very cool that Fleck can get involved in things like this.

Fun story. The elephant in the room is that PJF probably can’t skate very well. Hence why he tried his hand at goalie :)
