Per U of MN press release:

University of Minnesota football coach P.J. Fleck was named to the Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Watch List today.

Fleck, who has the Gophers off to a 7-0 start and a No. 17 ranking, is one of 22 coaches on the list.

The Paul "Bear" Bryant Award will be handed out on Jan. 15, 2020 and recognizes the country's top college football coach for their contributions both on and off the field. The Coach of the Year Award is the only college coaching honor selected after all bowl games are concluded and is voted on by the National Sports Media Association.

Minnesota has won nine straight games (first nine game winning streak since 1941-42), which is tied for the fourth longest winning streak in the nation. Clemson has the longest winning streak at 22 games and is followed by Ohio State (13) and Appalachian State (12). Minnesota follows at nine wins and is tied with Baylor.

The Gophers are ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll and No. 16 in the Coaches Poll. Minnesota entered the AP Poll at No. 20 last week and this week's ranking of No. 17 is the highest Minnesota has been ranked in the poll since it was No. 13 on Oct. 3, 2004.

Minnesota is 7-0 for the first time since 1960 and the ninth time ever, as it also accomplished the feat in 1960, 1941, 1940, 1935, 1934, 1905, 1904, 1903 and 1896.

The Maroon and Gold are 4-0 in the Big Ten for the first time since 1967 (last started 5-0 in conference play in 1961) and has won five straight Big Ten games for the first time since 1969-70 when it won the final four games of 1969 and the first of 1970 (last won six straight Big Ten games in 1961).

Minnesota hosts Maryland at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. General admission tickets are still available and student tickets are only $7.

If he's on a watch list does that mean he can't travel with the team on an airplane?

but he runs on the sidelines between quarters!
