[TICKETS REMAINING TRACKING THREAD] - How many seats are unsold vs MD, PSU and WIS?

I try to be empathetic, but at the same time I’m paying for my season ticket seat. If I want to stand I have every right. If you don’t like someone blocking your view then move your seat. Harsh, yes. But I don’t pay $890 for two season tickets to be told what I can do in my seat

But you do have the right to tell them what to do in their seats, right?

FWIW, I saw someone almost die for standing too much. Was at the PSU game the Gophers won at TCF a few years ago. I'm bad with years.

Anyway, group of 4, 3 sons and their old man, would stand and go nuts on big plays. They were row 1 upper deck. Two guys behind them did not appreciate their standing. After a while, they got into a verbal argument. Guy from row 2 shoves guy in row 1, guy in row 1 ALMOST flipped over the railing. Security was called and row 2 guy was removed from the stadium. Row 1 guy continued to cheer loudly.

Interesting to see the movement overnight in the expensive seats, and the release of Zone 6 tickets. Looks like we are heading towards a sellout!!

I'm assuming there are roughly 700 season pass seat assignments that go into place sometime tomorrow. So that means roughly 250 more tickets need to be sold between now and tomorrow to consider this a sellout, correct? If more than 250 seats sell today I wonder how they decide among the season pass customers which get seats and which have to go standing room?

what is zone 6?

I'd guess first come first serve. So the earlier you bought the pass, the better seat you get

what is zone 6?

It's gotta be the upper deck corners. That is where the bulk of the remaining seats are located when I look at the dots on the ticket website.

I also noticed the Stubhub availability has dropped to 1300 (from 1600 yesterday).

Can someone explain the deal with releasing chunks of seats now? I keep seeing sections pop back up and I'm just curious what the advantage is vs. having all of the tickets available right away.

My completely uneducated guess....maybe pulling some seats back creates a perception that availability is low so people will act to get tickets before they are gone. If someone were on the fence and knew there were 5000 tickets left, they'll think "meh, I can wait to decide" but if there were 500 tickets left they'll think "Whoa, I better pull the trigger now".

I've never worked in a ticket office, but I assume many tickets are held back for the visiting team, players, families, athletic dept employees, etc. and eventually put up for sale when it seems they won't be used. Students are also allotted far more tickets than needed, and those are slowly being released to the general public as well. Also seems they've been playing some games with StubHub, moving tickets in and out of that platform. If anybody knows of other reasons, I'd be curious as well...

If you are talking about the corners in the closed end, I believe that they are releasing tickets in chunks as the game nears because they are saving seats for students. They don't want to have unfilled seats, but the "student section" is a priority and they want to make sure not to oversell to the public and have students turned away. I expect that there is also some benefit to creating the impression that the seats are almost gone to encourage people on the fence to act quickly.

When do unsold visitor section seats get returned from the visiting team to the U? Could that be the source of new blocks of seats showing up?

sometimes they offer seats to groups like high school teams and save blocks for that...the seats released in 108 are in a players parents section I believe...great seats

seats opening up in 202 could certainly be from PSU

Per a conversation with someone who actually holds a mobile pass ticket, he expects to receive an email from the ticket office tomorrow morning at 11am, so this should become more clear around then.

going very fast now, changed a lot since i was counting these over last hour...U site now has a counter on its site; says 600 left...fun stuff...nice deal for athletic department coffers

Yes, looks like it could set out today.

They're also getting a little more expensive on StubHub. The cheapest are about $62 (about $82 with all the fees). They were around $57.

There is now a sort of red printed "countdown to sellout" notification on the single game ticket page, showing how many seats are left. Down to around 600.

edit: oops... I see Swingman already pointed this out. Sorry for the duplicate.

any chance that once it’s a sellout, some standing room become available?

I would assume they'll release those soon once all the seats are gone. Maybe even once it is down to just singles.

The number on the site is going up now, was at 424 to 443, wonder if some previously held tickets by Penn State or some other group is being returned for sale?

I suspect the number is tied to seats available for purchase through the online process. When somebody selects seats for purchase they go into a held status so two people can't accidentally purchase the same seats at the same time and the number goes down. But if they don't complete the purchase, those seats get released for purchased again and the number will go back up. However, that's just a guess.
