So far the weather looks great for next Saturday. Mostly sunny with a kickoff temperature of 55. SE wind of 10-15 mph.

Man at one point it was showing low 40s and cloudy. 55 and sunny would be outstanding for a 2:30 game.

Another tailgating question for this Saturday for the pros. What time is a good time to show up pre game? I was thinking around noonish to have some time to grill and drink some beers. Would we miss out on anything really cool by showing up then? What do you guys recommend?

A current look at wunderground for Minneapolis forecast has upgraded the prediction to full sun with a high of 61. that is incredible! With all the buzz around the team I would hope this would set the stage for an epic walk up attendance for this game. That would be great.

Everyone is different but in the world of tailgating I always think of a weird comparison with Vegas casinos when I think of tailgating. In Vegas, a friend of mine always says it is like they pump something into the air where you don't get tired and staying up until 4:00 AM is not tiring (until you leave town). In tailgating, 2 hours feels like 15 minutes.

We host a tailgate every home game and over and over people show up, giving themselves about 2 hours and without fail, every time we start breaking down we hear things like "already?" or "we just got here!" or "we should have arrived earlier." I have yet to be at a tailgate that seems too long.

With all this in mind, for tailgating, if it is a 2:30 game we typically arrive 10ish to set up and start. We usually break it down a half hour before scheduled kick off.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, we won’t have a ton to set up and take down. Just a small grill and a cooler and some fold up lawn chairs out of the truck. My friends I’m bringing love football but aren’t huge Gopher fans (yet). But maybe I’ll push them for us to show up an hour earlier. Looks like a beautiful day for football!

Sounds like an awesome day.... "Golden" sunshine. The Gopher gods are on your side my brothers. Sadly I can't make it. Eat, drink, and beat Maryland. Please hoist one for me.

Mrs. Billd will be able to bicycle to the game. Happy camper.

Sorry if I crossed the line, but I thought it was funny.

Far better than Golden Showers

Agree 100%. Three hours feels like you just get there, get your stuff out, cook, eat, then put everything away. No time to just kick back and enjoy.

The overall weather pattern is unlikely to change between now and Saturday. The temperature has fluctuated a little bit, trending warmer, but that's it. The weather will be nearly perfect for late October.

Nope, no line crossed. Very funny.

Mrs. Billd is not a beer drinker but substitute a wine cooler and you've got her pegged.

As for me, learned a long time ago to consume before or after...but not during the game. Messes up the vocal chords for me. Classic Coke in a stadium cup...with ice to the top...works just fine for each half. GHers in 212 and 211 understand the importance of this for us very well. Loud is good.

Even if the Temps get downgraded this will be a significant improvement over the Nebraska game.

The last nice day the Gophers hosted a Big 10 game was vs Maryland 2 years ago. Northwestern last year & Nebraska 2 years ago were at least dry and sunny, but still below freezing I think at least at game time.

Since the River Flats tailgating situation is limited to the paved lot for Saturday, where else do people tailgate that doesn't require a season parking pass? I'm a long-time season ticket holder and the Flats has been our go-to for years. Anybody know anything about Lot C13 on the East Bank? What's the energy like on the St. Paul campus?

Thank you for the heads up on the River Flats being pavement only this Saturday.

State Fairgrounds has a Tailgate lot, same cost as River Flats, free shuttle before and after game. This will be our first tailgate there with my group. Not sure how well that shuttle works or how fast it will fill up with the river flats potentially rerouting to there.

After some kinks in the first couple seasons of TCF Bank Stadium the shuttle system to and from St. Paul is easy and convenient. There is hardly ever a wait for the shuttle to the stadium. For the shuttle back form the stadium your wait will be AT MOST a couple minutes. I wouldn't worry about it filling up. The only time it ever came close was when Maturi approved NDSU to have their official pregame tailgate party there and there were 20k Bison fans converging on the parking lot. It's a huge lot. There will be plenty of spots but it won't feel like its empty either. I like it.

Yeah, biking can be a great way to get to the game. Especially if you can come in from the east on the transitway.

Was able to bike to every game last season. This season...not so much. Sat. will be perfect though.

Thanks. I was wondering how the fairgrounds lot turned out for tailgating recently. The last time I tailgated there was the 2nd year in TCF. Loved the tailgating, but the shuttle system especially post-game was a total clusterf'k.

Been a regular at the Fairgrounds lot since year 2 of TCF. We love it there for the following reasons:

- Easy in and out of the lot. No after game on campus traffic to deal with.
- Plenty of space. Pick your spot
- $10.00 includes parking/tailgating, plenty of biffs, bus ride over and back (less than 10 minute ride on direct bus route). Very efficient.
- Buses start running to TCF 3 hours before game time.

Hope you get to 2-wheel it on Saturday while still possible without studded tires and a parka:p
