Journal & Courier is first out of the gate:

No. 4 Minnesota (6-0, 3-0)

Last week: Rolled over Nebraska 34-7

In a sentence: The brilliance of P.J. Fleck - directed his skill position players to dip their hands in ice water between practice drills in preparation for the 37 degree weather at TCF Bank Stadium.

Up next: Saturday at Rutgers, 3:30 p.m.

I like the way we are trending...

People on the outside are starting to believe we might just be for real. Now we have to prove them right.

That Iowa game is looking awfully tasty right now. That offense is miserable.

Penn St. and Wisconsin look very good. We should be favored in the rest of our games. Even Iowa on the road. Iowa and NW have had poor showings on offense.

Next two weeks will be very very interesting in the Big Ten: Bucky at OSU and Penn St hosting Michigan. Things are getting serious!

Here's how we'd rank the teams in the Big Ten this week from first to last.

1. Ohio State (6-0)
Bye week was good to the Buckeyes' playoff hopes, courtesy of Georgia's stunning loss.

2. Wisconsin (6-0)
Badgers have allowed the fewest points through six games by a FBS team since 1993 (h/t ESPN).

3. Penn State (6-0)
Lost the stat sheet but won the game in Iowa City.

4. Minnesota (6-0)
When you're posting +3 or better yards-per-play differential in three straight conference games, that's not a fluke.

5. Michigan (5-1)
No idea how good this team is or isn't. The talent is obvious, but so are the mental errors.

6. Iowa (4-2)
Penn State and Michigan scored a combined two touchdowns off Iowa on drives that weren't set up by turnovers and just 27 combined points total. Iowa lost both games. (h/t Hawkeye Nation)

7. Michigan State (4-3)
First time since 2009 the Spartans have allowed 30+ points three consecutive games.

8. Indiana (4-2)
Two wins away from bowl eligibility.

9. Nebraska (4-3)
Just absolutely mauled up front in Minneapolis.

10. Purdue (2-4)
420 yards passing from freshman quarterback Jack Plummer.

11. Maryland (3-3)
Remember when the Terps were in the AP top 25? Good times.

12. Northwestern (1-4)
The good news had a bye to get healthy. The bad news is the Buckeyes are next.

13. Illinois (2-4)
Somehow scored 25 straight points against Michigan.

14. Rutgers (1-5)
Had 74 yards of total offense against the Hoosiers.

Buckeyes Wire chimes in:

4. Minnesota (8. Last Week)

I’ve been holding out on the Gophers, but P.J. Fleck has the team undefeated and seemingly getting better and better. There’s a whole boat full of energy drinks rowing right towards Wisconsin possibly. Who would have thought the ax might have such implications this year?

Detroit Free Press chimes in:

6. Minnesota (6-0)
Last week: 7. In the battle between media-hyped coaches, Minnesota's P.J. Fleck prevailed over Nebraska's Scott Frost on Saturday. In the process, Fleck has everyone believing the Golden Gophers are for real. And why not? They climbed to No. 20 in the coaches poll and have won eight straight dating to last season. There is reason to start buying the idea that Fleck's boat-rowing crew may be what their record says they are.

Next up: at Rutgers, 3:30 p.m. Saturday, BTN

Michican't has never had a stable mind (Detroit Free Press) I guess that's why it's "free press". They have good theories in their explanation when giving compliments, but why 4-2 Iowa, ahead of the Gophs? I can understand an argument either way, but they are the only ones putting the G-Men that low.

Black Heart Gold Pants chimes in:

4. Minnesota (6-0, 3-0)
Minnesota’s best win is still against a 2-3 Fresno State team but I don’t care. The Gophers are 6-0 for the first time since 2003 and you have to start acknowledging the Gilded Rodents could possibly be 9-0 when they come to Iowa City in November. They’ll definitely be no worse than 8-1 with games against Rutgers, Maryland and Penn State between now and then. And I do NOT want a Kirk Ferentz matchup against a psychotic and undefeated PJ Fleck.
