I'll agree with this. There is a lot of room for argument at the top or the bottom of your list. But, as for the gophs, I think it's tough to argue we've looked better than any of the top 6, and equally tough to argue we've looked worse than any of the bottom 7. 7 is right where we belong.

Go Gophers!!

Teams 1-4 have looked good.
Team 14 has looked horrible.
Team 13 is Illinois by default.
Teams 5-12 have looked mediocre.
Only one team in the 5-12 range has yet to lose a game. So I’d probably have the gophers 5th in my own personal power rankings

He has Michigan State’s win over a bad Northwestern team overrated.
Michigan has one win similar to Fresno (Army) in terms of quality. One win a against a similar quality opponent as Georgia Southern (MTSU). If the gophers had played Wisconsin and been blown out instead of beating SDSU close...would it merit a top 25 ranking?

If we'd beat everyone we are ranked higher than in that list, we'd be 9-3.

YES!

Eyes on the prize, people!

Nobody believes that this list, or any similar list, means all that much; especially not this early in the season. But the Gophers do have an opportunity — right now, this year — to make some noise. Their schedule sets up well.

The bolded part is spot on, and it's important. We sometimes forget that the objective is to actually win the game.

9. Minnesota (3-0)
Last week: 10. At a certain point, you've got to respect an undefeated team, right? Well, if you like wins over San Diego State, Fresno State and Georgia Southern, then you really like the Gophers. And with games upcoming against Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska and Rutgers, they may be rowing their boat to a bowl game this season.

Next up: at Purdue, 3:30 p.m. Saturday, ESPN2.

Go Gophers!!

The intern who wrote this thinks we played San Diego State. It's hard to take the analysis too seriously when he or she obviously spent about two minutes total on it.

When did San Diego State relocate to South Dakota?

When did San Diego State relocate to South Dakota?

The same year Oregon State relocated to Columbus, Ohio State relocated to Stillwater and Oklahoma State relocated to Corvallis.

Nevertheless, 9th isn't an unfair ranking, all things considered, at this point. I'm assuming he has us above Rutgers, Illinois, NW, Purdue, and Indiana. We might deserve a ranking higher than Nebraska and/or Maryland but that is far more debatable.
