College GameDay

Has there ever been a team that has defeated 3 Gameday hosts from within the same season, and not been part of, or hosted Gameday themselves that year?

Could be even more history being made in this historic season.

At this point, I fully expect St. Thomas to get one before the Gophers too.

When St. Thomas and St. John's played at Target Field, I was truly astonished that Gameday didn't make the trip for that game. It was in September with weather not being an issue, it was a matchup of two arch D-3 rivals that regularly made noise in the polls and playoffs at that level, and it was at Major League ballpark with a crowd that exceeded 37,000. There also wasn't an obvious major college game on that Saturday. This was a setup that was absolutely made for Gameday.

Instead the show didn't go to a game site at all. The show originated from Times Square, a decision that was controversial and stirred up discontent among fans of the show. ESPN stated it was based on the idea that NYC didn't have a major college team of its own, but was filled with alumni and fans of virtually every FBS program and many smaller ones too. It wasn't like going to campus, but there was still a good fan turn out for the live broadcast.
