Default Dozens of Bahamas evacuees were told to get off a ferry headed to the US

These survivors of a hurricane that has all but destroyed their country were evicted from a humanitarian cruise ship because they didn't have a visa even though one is not normally required for Bahamians to enter the U.S. I wonder what Jesus would say about America's willingness to extend a helping hand to their neighbors who are in need of assistance after their homes and cities were devastated through no fault of their own? On second thought, I don't wonder at all.

Hurricane Dorian may have long since left the Bahamas, but the islands have only begun to grapple with the grim aftermath.

Over the weekend, nearly 1,500 evacuees arrived in Palm Beach, Florida, on board the Grand Celebration humanitarian cruise ship. All of them were properly documented to enter the country, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said.

But on Sunday, a different story.

In a social media video taken aboard a ferry boat leaving the Bahamas, posted on Twitter by CNN affiliate WSVN reporter Brian Entin, an unidentified person announces via a loudspeaker that anyone traveling to the United States without a visa must disembark.

Entin told CNN he was on a Balearia ferry from Freeport to Fort Lauderdale when the announcement was made Sunday. His video shows families with children disembarking the vessel. One woman told Entin that as many as 130 people left the ferry after the announcement.

On its website, CBP says visas are not required for Bahamian residents flying into the US from the Bahamas if they also meet other criteria, including possessing a valid passport or travel documents, having no criminal record and carrying a police certificate issued within the past six months.

It was not immediately clear what the required documents are for Bahamians traveling by boat.

First off it was a for-profit effort, not humanitarian. The cruise ship charged people to board.

Second, the cruise company was specifically notified in advance by CPB that all passengers must have proper paperwork & that before heading to the US, they should first go to Nassau, Bahamas to arrange said paperwork. The cruise company chose to ignore those very specific instructions.

When you have policies that affect tens of millions of people (i.e. immigration), there will always be outliers who get screwed because of the overall rules. Sad, but true. So too, if you implement Obamacare, many will lose their health care plans & doctors. You ban guns & there will be people unable to defend themselves against criminals. You zap enough military targets with drones & innocents will be killed.

It's a sad story, but Cruze & the left only feign outrage for political reasons. Cruze & his Communist ilk, want open borders & hate the border patrol. That's the story here, not some Bahamians being turned away for not having proper documentation.

The mods could probably just redirect all of Cruze’s and WTF’s posts into the fake news thread.

I watched CNN confirm the above. Cuze should’ve put this under Fake News thread.
