Is the B1G the best-coached conference in college football?

That’s a question that a lot of people would probably respond to with some sort of “Well, what about the SEC,” comment. But when you look at the B1G, it makes a compelling argument.

P.J Fleck, Jeff Brohm, Mike Locksley, Tom Allen, Scott Frost and Ryan Day represent the newcomers in the conference, all with less than three years of experience in the B1G. Kirk Ferentz, Mark Dantonio and Pat Fitzgerald are the seasoned veterans, having served over a decade at their current job.

Paul Chryst, James Franklin and Jim Harbaugh are somewhere in the middle.

From top to bottom, it’s a pretty strong league. Even Big Ten Network analyst Stanley Jackson believes it may be the strongest group of coaches in the country. He says it’s a big reason why there are seven teams that cracked the top 25 out of the conference in the Associated Press poll on Monday.

“It says a lot about this conference and the teams that are coming back, mainly the coaches that are coming back and what a great job they did last year,” Jackson said of the seven teams in the AP poll. “The coaches in this conference are second to none. That’s why you see seven teams in the to 25.”
