Not this season anyways. I take the 6 conferences with the most NCAA bids the previous season. I suspect the Pac 12 will get its spot back after the coming season.

That may be your criteria, but selecting the American over the PAC12 is just ridiculous! Where would you rather play, Wichita State or over half of the PAC12 schools?

There's not really a whole lot of difference. Last year the American finished 6th and the Pac 12 7th in final conference rankings.

To answer your question, I can come up with half the Pac 12 arenas as an opponent I'd rather play at than Wichita State. ... Cal, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Washington State. Those 6 usually are sleepy arenas, certainly not the case with Wichita State.

To be fair, the American has plenty of those, too. ... East Carolina, Tulane, UCF, and USF come immediately to mind.

Pac 12 hasn't been a power conference for years. You must not watch much basketball.

NCAA tournament seeds the last three years for the Pac-12 and American:

Pac-12
2019: Sent 3 teams (Seeds: 9, 11, 12... would've been only two if Oregon didn't run the table in the Pac-12 tournament)
2018: Sent 3 teams (Seeds: 4, 11, 11)
2017: Sent 4 teams (Seeds: 2, 3, 3, 11)
Average seed: 7.7

American
2019: Sent 4 teams (Seeds: 3, 7, 9, 11)
2018: Sent 4 teams (Seeds: 2, 4, 6)
2018: Sent 2 teams (Seeds: 6, 6)
Average seed: 6

While the American is by no means a great conference, it has been better than the Pac-12 in the regular season the last few years.
