Overall Strength of Schedule (SOS) Based On Last Season's Final NET Rankings

If they don't add another game, Gophers for sure will have #1 non-conference and #1 overall SOS (based on opponents' average NET ranking) in the Big Ten, and perhaps the country.

That is REALLY SCARY!

That is REALLY SCARY!

Remember, it is based on last years NET, most of the better teams there lost a ton of guys. Wait until some games have been played and it will all shake out. I hope it ends up as the toughest schedule in the country but will be very surprised if that holds.

Even last year we were 28 overall because by its nature teams in the ACC and the Big 10 have a ton of hard games and also play each other. Top 3 last year were Duke,UNC, UVA.

Illinois completed its schedule by adding a Nov. 26 game vs. non-Division I Lindenwood. All non-DI opponents are given a ranking of #354 (1 worse than the bottom DI team).

The Gophers partial numbers are noted.

I thought we had ten non con opponents. Cleveland State, FIU, Central Michigan, Oklahoma, Okie State, Clemson, DePaul, Utah, Butler and Manhattan

I’m assuming Manhattan is off the books now. Jaspers have since released their non-conference schedule, and Gophers aren’t on it.

Is the season ticket price the same regardless of whether or not they add another game?

Yes, it's been a flat rate for quite a few years now, no matter the number of home games. Some seasons you get more home games, some you get less.

That mitigates the financial need for another game somewhat. Would be one more opportunity to sell some suds.

I'm surprised that the Gophers would choose not to fill the schedule with the maximum allowable number of games. I don't remember that ever happening previously. One more victory on the resume could make the difference between being chosen for the big dance and being relegated to the NIT.

If they can add another opponent in the #75-175 range, I'd add that last game. Maybe a Fresno State, IUPUI, Loyola Marymount, or Iona? Otherwise, I'd rather have the schedule as it is now than add a terrible D1 or, even worse, a non-DI opponent.

Does that include the addition of UND?

Interesting that we play all 3 teams ahead of us.

So are officially just not playing an 11th non-conference game?

If they can add another opponent in the #75-175 range, I'd add that last game. Maybe a Fresno State, IUPUI, Loyola Marymount, or Iona? Otherwise, I'd rather have the schedule as it is now than add a terrible D1 or, even worse, a non-DI opponent.

SS, do you know if the teams you listed have an opening in their schedules?

Some of the teams have openings. Not every team maxes out their schedule.
