Inventorying our tailgate equipment and it appears we need a new grill. Anyone have any recommendations on what works for them.

Looking for: Something that works well in the cold & possibly a griddle option.

Thanks

Blackstone makes camp Grill with griddle

Coleman 285. I started my first couple years of tailgating with a different brand and the burners would blow out pretty much with every gust of wind. Since switching to the Coleman 285 (which I see BY FAR as the most common grill type on the tailgate scene), I have had zero issues. Dependable, easy to operate, easy to store, etc. The only thing I'd change on mine is the color. Mine is red but I see now that they come in other colors and the standard color is now black. The red really does bother me for some reason.

Weber. Q1200.

I second that suggestion. I still have and use my Q200, and Q220(older version) from MetroDome era tail gating. Solid Grills that are easily transportable. Very nice litte grill.

I really like my Cook-Air EP-3620BK Wood Fired Portable Grill:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I058WKM/

It’s light, starts fast, gets very hot (up to 1000 degrees with fan on full speed), beautifully sears steaks, very even cooking surface (no cold or hot spots), burns wood (I use the compressed pucks), and easy cleanup (about tablespoon of very light ash). I find it much better than charcoal, and better for pure grilling than propane.

depending on where he tailgates many places only allow propane grills

Interesting rule. I haven’t seen that restriction here (Pac 12 Washington and Oregon schools). Not that there isn’t one, I just haven’t looked for using a wood grill, nor have been busted for it.

That's kinda cool. Don't think I could justify getting one but cool concept.
