University of Minnesota student-athletes had a school-record 3.29 grade point average last year and tied for the lead among public Big Ten schools with a 93 percent graduation rate, according to a school report.

The Gophers also achieved a rare feat on the playing field: Of the 65 schools in the “Power Five” conferences, Minnesota was alone in posting a winning record in every team sport, Athletics Director Mark Coyle said in an annual report Thursday to the Board of Regents.

“We make it very, very clear to our coaches, when they start to recruit these young men and women, that they have to compete on this campus academically and athletically,” Coyle said.

Go Gophers!!

Nice, unlike many schools that sell their academic souls in order to compete in college sports.
