I had SportsCenter playing in the background while I was getting ready this morning, and they were reporting from Patriots camp (of course they were) and were talking about who Tom Brady was going to throw to this season. They just cut Austin Sefarian-Jenkins (after signing him ~2 months ago), and with Gronk retiring in the offseason, they said something to the effect of "newly signed tight end Matt LaCosse will likely end up being the starter by default going into camp." I heard "Matt LaCosse" and immediately thought:

If anyone remembers, he committed to Brewster and staff in the summer of 2010 (http://prev.dailyherald.com/story/?id=393869) and then flipped to his home state Illini (http://www.forums.gopherhole.com/boards/showthread.php?25106-Matt-LaCosse-Decommits-goes-to-Illinois) after the staff was let go.

To be honest, I didn't know that he was still in the NFL (or ever in the NFL, for that matter), but it would've been nice to have another U alum playing in the league right now.

It would have been less nice to stick with Brewster much longer I suspect.

Naperville, Illinois was not Gopher Country.

Didn't know this story but did know I had to play him for a week in a desperation fantasy move when my starter was on bye and backup got hurt. I don't know if he scored a point or not, but I do know Brady will make him look like a pro bowler.
