my first DWI I was at .22 - and I thought I was fine. Cops pulled me over - I asked them why, said I wasn't speeding or crossing the center line - and one of them smiled and said, no, but you were going the wrong way down a one-way street.......

Now, I have gotten a lot drunker than that in my life, but I didn't have a BAC test in those occasions, so it's certainly possible that I hit .3 or higher.

Buy a breathalyzer off amazon and go to a bar where alcoholics hang out all day. At midnight pay them each 1 drink to test them. You might be surprised how high people can get. I laugh every time someone says anyone would be dead with a BAC greater that 0.40 because I've talked to dozens of people with higher ones, some of which didn't even seem very drunk. Others were completely plastered and more fun to talk to .

You are a cop then, and you've never brought a drunk to the ER that blew in the 0.5-0.6 range? Do you work in a sober county?

here's the thing. there are certain topics that encourage and amplify myths and tall tales. drinking and getting drunk is one of them.

i have seen plenty of walking .35-.4

however if you have seen "alcoholics" who have "walked" into the hospital, then i would think that by plural you meant 2 and i would congratulate you on your 30 year career as a paramedic or er nurse.

maybe your experience is different than mine and it is common for medical professionals to see people "walking" at a .6 *shrug*

i do know that people often stretch the truth when it comes to drinking and getting drunk and telling stories about drinking and getting drunk.

I get what you're saying about "walk". Generally it's escorted by 2 police officers or paramedics because someone called for them being violent or stumbling or slurring at the bar. They are still walking and have seen this multiple times in the ER. Maybe I was just "lucky", but I don't work there that often and have seen it several times at HCMC and Regions. This isn't a bragging situation, but more a comment on how amazing it is that some people can tolerate that (I hit about .1-.2 and am a puddle)
