Michigan QB Brandon Peters reportedly entering transfer portal

Got his degree early, so good for him looking for a place to start. As for bringing in grad transfers, you reap what you sow. He's moving on and could very well create the same where he lands.

I do think if this continues and picks up pace wise, HS QBs decision making will change accordingly. Could mean some high ranked QBs decide to go places a little down the food chain where they have a high chance of starting as RS Freshmen.

Twenty eight 5-Star & 4-Star QBs have entered the transfer portal. Several high profile ones like Justin Fields moving from Georgia to Ohio State. A total of seventy nine QBs altogether. Is this a new trend or has it been going on long before the advent of the transfer portal?

Peters remained on the team through spring, though his name was rarely discussed by the coaching staff, with Harbaugh at one point outlining the quarterback depth chart as follows: Patterson, McCaffrey and true freshman Joe Milton.

During Michigan’s open practice and spring game in April, all three and early enrollee Cade McNamara took reps before Peters. Peters has not spoken publicly to reporters in over a year.

I think it has gone on for a while but has really exploded in the past few seasons. And if the NCAA keeps on letting guys play right away it will just continue to expand and become even more common.

If you know you are going to have to sit out a year you might decide to stick it out where you are at and try to earn some playing time but if you know you can leave and play at another FBS school right away then jumping ship becomes a much more attractive option.
